Intensive IELTS Academic Writing course – Xiamen, 15-16th October 2016
The first Intensive IELTS Academic Writing course was conducted in Xiamen this last weekend, with students saying they learnt a lot that they had never been introduced to before!
Shining Bright Future and Shinyway Education, Xiamen Branch got together to have 16 students be trained for FREE, as a ‘proof of concept’ event.
The students were taught what is actually important when doing the IELTS writing Task 1 and Task 2, from the perspective of the examiners who will be marking their official IELTS test. This included not only in relation to specific marking criteria*, but also general academic writing skills – skills which are usually NOT taught in China, and especially not in IELTS writing classes.
The proof of the pudding…
All students who were selected to join this free training event needed to have an official IELTS writing score of at least 5.0 (with a Listening score of at least 6.0 – so they could understand the lecturer!).
The goal of this intensive training program is to have EVERY student attain AT LEAST a half-band increase in their overall writing score. And as we’ll be following the progress of these 16 students, we shall see if that is in fact what happens – with our first students having their next IELTS test in only a few days time!
Keep an eye on this page for updates – to see how our students went – and also have a look at what some of the students had to say on the testimonials page.
Many, many thanks go to Mr Chen, Elvis, Oliver, and Katy for helping to arrange this great event, and let’s see a great relationship develop in the future!
(*NB – no confidential IELTS material was used or suggest, and only the PUBLIC VERSION of the IELTS Band Descriptors were used)
