There are a LOT of IELTS teachers out there in schools and private training centres. Now, there are even a lot of former IELTS examiners teaching IELTS. THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME! Firstly, many former examiners DON'T teach you good academic writing skills! There IS a formula for writing the two tasks of the IELTS academic test. It's a formula used at universities, and has been in practice for many many years. There's also a way to ARGUE that needs to be taught. The Task 2 isn't just a paper - in the field of linguistics, it's called an 'argumentative' essay. They must be written in a particular way, using a special writing style and format. Nor do they teach you to THINK about the question in such a way as to get you higher scores.
